Worksheet Overview

This activity is all about cube roots.  All answers are positive.

A cube root is the number we multiply by itself and then by itself again to get another number which we call a cube number.

Here's a reminder of the first three cube numbers.

So, we know that 5 x 5 x 5 = 125

125 is a cube number.

Which means that 5 is the cube root of 125.

Let's try an example question.

Example

What is the cube root of 1,000?

Answer

This is a cube number and its root that you should be able to memorise quite easily.

10 x 10 x 10 = 1,000

So 10 cubed is 1,000 and the cube root of 1,000 must therefore be 10!

Now let's try some questions about cube roots.
