When we write we tend to use verbs like said too often, and it can make our writing very dull.
Instead, we can use more interesting vocabulary that describes the way something is said.
Let's look at some examples:
asked
"Can I have an ice cream?" she asked.
shouted
"Come back!" the boy shouted.
murmured
"I'm sorry," murmured Sarah.
whispered
"I can't climb the ladder," she whispered, "I'm scared of heights."
In this activity, you will be asked to identify and choose words that improve a piece of writing by replacing the word said.
Let's get started.
