Worksheet Overview

A dictionary is a very useful book.

dictionary

It can help us to spell words and it also gives the definitions (or meanings) of words.

alphabet

Dictionaries are arranged in alphabetical order, so if we want to look up a word beginning with the letter 'a' we need to look near the front and if we want to look up a word beginning with 'w' we need to look near the back.

In this activity, we will be thinking about how the words in a dictionary are arranged.

If you have a dictionary it will be helpful but you should be able to complete the activity without one.
