Worksheet Overview

Contractions are words which have been put together to create one new, shorter word.

We often use contractions when we're talking as it is more conversational.

Let's have a look at some examples:

Do not becomes don't

Can not becomes can't

We are becomes we're

What have you noticed about the contracted words here?

Some letters have been removed, and an apostrophe has been put in their place.

We are going to rewrite some sentences to make them more conversational by using contractions.

For example:

We are going to the park.

becomes

We're going to the park.

children in a park

Let's try a few of these..
