In this worksheet, students will consider different ways of creating antonyms by adding prefixes.

Worksheet Overview

An antonym is a word that means the opposite of another word.

For example: wet and dry

Some antonyms are completely different words, but others can be formed by adding a prefix to the existing word.

helpful    unhelpful

like    dislike

patient    impatient

impatient child

Dictionaries and thesauruses can be very helpful if you are not sure which prefix to use to form an antonym.
