Do you know what a multiple is?
A multiple is any number in the times table of another number.
So multiples of 6 are any number in the 6 times table. Some examples are:
6, 18, 54, 60, 72, 90, 42, 24
What about factors?
A factor is a number that divides into another number without leaving a remainder. It is often easier to think of pairs of numbers that multiply together.
For example, factors of 32 are numbers that divide exactly into 32. So, think of pairs of whole numbers that multiply to give 32:
1 x 32
2 x 16
4 x 8
The factors of 32 are: 1, 2, 4 ,8, 16, 32
And prime numbers, what are they?
Prime numbers have exactly two factors: 1 and the number itself.
They can't be divided by any other numbers other than itself and 1.
The first few prime numbers are;
2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17, 19
