Convert Percentages of a Circle into Fractions

In this worksheet, students will work out the fraction of a pie chart that is shaded by converting percentages.

Worksheet Overview

In this activity, we will be finding fractions of the shaded parts of the pie.

We know the percentages of the parts. The percentages, when added, equal 100% altogether.

The dark blue section is 25%, which is 25/100.

25/100 can be reduced to 1/4.

PIe chart

We will need to convert the percentages into fractions.

Remember that a percentage simply means out of 100, so we can write 100 as the denominator of the fraction.

Example

To convert 16% into a fraction we write it as 16/100

We can then simplify it by dividing both the top and the bottom by 4 to give us 4/25 as our fraction.

Let's have a look at some questions on this.
