Choose the Correct Material

The things we have in our homes can be called objects.

Every object around us is made from a material.

Objects can be made from the same or different materials.

Here are some different materials that objects in our homes can be made of.

wood	glass	metal
plastic	fabric	paper

Have a look at this chair. Can you see what material it has been made out of?  

Use the materials in the table above to help.

This chair is made from wood. 

Wood is a hard, solid material that doesn't bend or break when people sit on it.

If we used glass or paper it would break as they are not strong enough.

If we used fabric it would not hold the shape as it is not a solid fabric.

We could use plastic or metal as both of these are strong solid materials. You have probably seen a plastic and a metal chair before.

But this picture showed a wooden chair, so the correct material is wood.
