Worksheet Overview

All around us in our everyday lives are objects made out of different materials.

We consider the material's properties when choosing what material to use.

A property is what the material can do.

Here are a few properties as examples

breakable  waterproof  flexible  shiny

hard  strong  soft  absorbent  smooth

Here is a picture of a bridge.

The bridge needs to be strong, not bend and last a long time.

Metal is a good material to use to make a bridge as its properties are that it is strong, doesn't bend and is hard-wearing.

Let's think about the properties of different materials and practise choosing which material is best for different objects.
