Sounds are produced when a material vibrates. The vibrations travel in waves from the source through gases, solids and liquids by making them vibrate too.
We cannot always see the vibrations because they are too small, but there are ways that we can show the movement.
For example, sand on a drum skin bounces when the drum is struck.
We can feel the vibrations produced by our voices by feeling our throats as we speak or sing.
In this activity, we are going to find out all about making sounds.
Let's begin.
