To make our writing more interesting and varied, we can use conjunctions to link words and phrases together.
Some examples of simple conjunctions are and or but.
In this activity, we will be using the conjunctions while, so , because. They can all be used to express time or the cause of something.
Let's look at how we can use them in our writing.
Here is a simple sentence:
She fell asleep.
We can extend this sentence, giving the reader more information, by adding one of our time conjunctions.
She fell asleep while the teacher was talking!
She fell asleep so her friend gently shook her awake.
She fell asleep because she had stayed up late the night before.
