To make our writing more interesting and varied, we can use conjunctions to link words and phrases together.
Some examples of simple conjunctions are and or but.
In this activity, we will be using the conjunctions when, before , after. All of these are time conjunctions. They can be used to express time.
Let's look at how we can use them in our writing.
Here is a simple sentence:
I ate dinner.
We can extend this sentence, giving the reader more information, by adding one of our time conjunctions.
I ate dinner when Dad had finished cooking.
I ate dinner before going to play in the garden.
I ate dinner after I washed my hands.
