Some words are spelt with letters that we do not pronounce (say out loud). These letters are called silent letters.
In this activity, we are going to look at words which contain a silent n.
We will look at the following five words and practise spelling them:
hymn
solemn
column
autumn
condemn

As you can see, the silent n comes after m in all these words.
Spend a few minutes looking at these words before beginning the questions.
