We can use the word ‘and' to join words, sentences and our ideas together. When we start joining our ideas together our writing becomes clearer and we can add more information and make more interesting sentences!
Let’s look at the picture below.
We could say:
The dragon is large. The dragon is powerful.
The castle is magical. The castle sits on the edge of a cliff.
Or we could join our ideas using and:
The dragon is large and powerful and the castle is magical and sits on the edge of a cliff.

When we use 'and', we can be describing something - adding more information, using adjectives like strong, quiet, slimy or proud, as well as joining ideas together.
