This activity will help you to understand and use synonyms and antonyms correctly.

Both synonyms and antonyms could appear in your SATS SPAG test.

Let's start by recapping the meaning of each of these terms.

 

What is a synonym?

Synonyms are words with either the same or a similar meaning.

For example, 'swift' is a synonym for 'quick'.

What is an antonym?

Antonyms are words with opposite meanings.

For example: 'same' is an antonym for 'different'.
