An adjective is a word that describes a noun (someone or something).
The thief was a clever man.
He carried a bright torch and wore a black hat on his bald head.
Adjectives can be used to add all sorts of detail to a description. They can describe the size or colour of something, somebody's feelings or characteristics, what something sounds like and so on.
Without adjectives, our writing would be very dull indeed and we wouldn't enjoy reading much either!
In this activity, we will practise identifying adjectives in sentences and working out what type of adjectives they are.
