Find One Quarter or One Third of a Shape

This activity is all about finding 1/4 and 1/3 of shapes. 

Let's have a look at what each of these means. 

1. Finding 1/4 of a shape:

1/4 is read as one quarter and can also be written like this:

So, let's shade 1/4 of a square. It needs to be split into four equal parts and then one of the parts needs to be shaded:

2. Finding 1/3 of a shape:

1/3 is read as one third and can also be written like this:

So, let's shade 1/3 of a circle. It needs to be split into three equal parts and then one of the parts needs to be shaded.
