There are some words which are more challenging to spell and we can use a range of different methods to help us learn them.
In this activity, we are going to look at the following list of words:
answer
arrive
build
caught
certain
continue
decide
different
earth
exercise
extreme
February
group
heart
history
island
There are a number of ways to help you learn these spellings - you need to work out what works best for you!
Here are some ideas:
1) Use a 'spelling voice' when saying the words e.g. IS LAND instead of making the 's' silent.
2) Make up rhymes to help you with the trickier parts e.g. U and I will bUIld a house or I can HEAR my HEARt.
3) Be creative - make pictures or songs to help you.
4) Keep writing them over and over again or make the words with sticks or items around your house.
Start off by seeing if you can learn some of these words and then have a go at the activity!
