The poem 'Storm on the Island' was written by the Northern Irish poet Seamus Heaney in 1966.
Heaney won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1995 and died in 2013.
The poet describes a community of islanders who prepare themselves for a storm and think they are safe - do they have a surprise coming!
The storm is much more powerful than the islanders expect and they soon become terrified as it wrecks their homes and threatens their lives.
In this activity, we are going to look at how to evaluate language and techniques in the poem.
