Worksheet Overview

How does Golding present the characters in 'Lord of the Flies?'

Photo of a young boy, his face painted with camouflage, staring from out of a bush.

In the Literature exam, you will be asked to write about the presentation of a particular character or characters by Golding.

To achieve a higher mark, you will need to show that you are analysing the character(s).

To show this, you will need to:

- comment on some of the choices of language/structure/dramatic devices used by Golding to present the character(s).

- comment on how the presentation of the character is used to reflect the context in which Golding was writing.

In this activity, we will practice analysing Golding's presentation of the characters in 'Lord of the Flies.'

You should always refer to your own text when working through these examples. These quotations are for reference only.
