Worksheet Overview

By now you'll be getting pretty good at keys: you'll understand the differences between a spider key and a 'clue' key and you'll be getting quite good at using them to identify different things.

Key

So, in this activity, you'll have a chance to practise and extend these skills.  You'll also be able to think about what features are best to choose when designing an identification key.

Scientist

Remember, it's the features (or characteristics) of the object or organism that are used to help identify it. Things like colour, size, shape and so on can all help to place things into groups. Then each group is slowly split up until each object is identified - its features reveal its name.

Are you ready to dive into the world of key-construction and identification?
