A simple electrical circuit is like a pathway that allows electricity to flow from one place to another.
Imagine it is like a road that cars (electricity) can travel on. Just like a road needs to be complete for cars to move, a circuit needs to be complete for electricity to flow.
A simple circuit is made up of the following:
Battery - this is the power source of the circuit. It provides electricity that flows through the circuit.
Wires - wires are like the roads that connect the different parts of the circuit together. They allow the electricity to travel from one place to another.
Switch - a switch is like a gate on the road. It can either let electricity flow through (when it is turned on) or stop it (when it is turned off).
Bulb - the light bulb is where the magic happens! When electricity flows through the circuit and reaches the light bulb, it makes it glow and gives off light.
You can practise thinking about all the different parts of a circuit in this activity.
Let's get started!
