Worksheet Overview

As the seasons change, the weather does too and it is important that we know what to wear for all kinds of weather!

Wearing the right clothes keeps us feeling comfortable and can even help to protect us, such as wearing sun cream in the summer and sunglasses to protect our eyes from the sun.

Remember: never look directly at the sun, even with sunglasses on. The sun is very strong and can damage our eyes and our skin if we don’t protect ourselves properly.

Let’s look at the seasons and what we should wear!

It's hot! Just as you wouldn't wear a jacket inside a warm house, we wear thin clothes like shorts and t-shirts in summer. These clothes let air flow through and help our bodies to sweat, which cools us down.

The weather gets chilly, like when you open a fridge. Thicker clothes like jeans and long-sleeved shirts act like blankets, trapping our body heat and keeping us warm. There is more rain too, so we need wellies and waterproof shoes.

Brrr, it's freezing outside! Imagine playing in the snow without warm clothes - not fun! Winter clothes are like super thick blankets. Coats, hats, and scarves block the cold air from touching our skin and keep us toasty.

The weather starts to get warmer again, like holding a cup of hot chocolate in your hands. We don't need all the winter layers any more, so we wear lighter clothes like t-shirts, jumpers and jackets. These  keep us comfortable as the weather changes.

So, just as we use different tools for different jobs (a spoon for soup, a shovel for digging), we wear different clothes for different weather!
