Let's imagine we are building an electrical circuit with a switch and a buzzer.
You will need a battery, a switch, a buzzer and three wires.
First, we start with the battery that gives power to the circuit.
We then get a wire and connect one end of the wire to the plus end of the battery (+ the positive terminal).
We then connect the other end of that wire to the switch.
Next, we get another wire and connect one end of the wire to the switch and the other end to the buzzer.
Finally, we get another wire and connect one end to the buzzer and the other end of the wire to the minus end of the battery (- the negative terminal).
This circuit should then work by pressing the switch on, so that the buzzer makes a noise.
You could change the buzzer to a motor or a light bulb if you wanted to.
In this activity, we will think about the different components of a simple circuit and how they work.
