Select Suitable Adjectives

In this worksheet, students will learn how to expand noun phrases using adjectives in order to give more detail.

Worksheet Overview

Adjectives are words that describe nouns (objects, places or people). A story without adjectives could be very dull.

The adjective often goes before the noun it is describing.

For example:

a cottage in snow

a tiny cottage

a huge forest

a snowy mountain

a remote mountain

Sometimes, the adjective is not next to the noun, but in a different place in the sentence, which makes it harder to spot!

For example:

a cat playing with a ball

The cat is playful.

The stripey cat is very sweet.

In this activity, we are going to choose the best adjectives we can to give the most detail.
