Worksheet Overview

Me and my shadow - we go everywhere together.  Well, that'd be pretty much true, as long as there's some light to make a shadow.

But what happens when there's more light or less light? What happens when the Sun moves across the sky as the day progresses? Is my shadow affected?

The answer to this is - yes!

Where the Sun is in the sky, and how much sunlight there is, really does affect the shadows that are made.

In this picture, it is a cloudy day, so there are not very strong shadows behind this girl and her dog.

Remember, the angle that the light is coming from means that the shadow will appear in the opposite direction.

If the light is to the side, the shadows appear longer.

If the light is closer or directly above, then shadows appear shorter.
