Analyse Language in the Poem 'Storm on the Island' by Seamus Heaney

For this activity, you will need the poem 'Storm on the Island' in your Power and Conflict anthology. 

The poem 'Storm on the Island' was written by the Northern Irish poet Seamus Heaney and published in 1966.

It is written in one nineteen-line stanza.  

It describes a terrible storm that hits a small island, and puts the islanders in danger. 

At first, the islanders think they have prepared themselves, however, the storm is a more powerful force than they expected. 

In this activity, we are going to look at how to analyse language in the poem.
