Have you ever wondered what it must've been like to be a soldier in WWI?
Some of the soldiers who fought were really young - the youngest British soldier was just twelve years old!
For this activity, you will need to grab your Power and Conflict anthology.
It would be really useful to have a pen and paper too in case you want to jot down any notes for later.
The poem 'Exposure' was published in 1917-1918 and written by the British poet and WWI soldier Wilfred Owen.
It is written in eight even stanzas.
It describes soldiers waiting in the trenches who are being attacked by cold and harsh weather.
The soldiers are waiting for commands and are bored. They start to question the point of war and wonder if they will ever be able to go home.
In this activity, we are going to look at how to analyse language in the poem.
