In this activity, we will learn how to add two 5-digit numbers using column addition.

Answer:

Set the numbers out in columns and add vertically, starting from the right column (the ones).

1. Add the ones: 8 + 1 = 9. Write the 1 in the ones column.

2. Add the tens column: 3 + 0 = 3. Write the 3 in the tens column.

3. Add the hundreds column: 6 + 2 = 8. Write the 8 in the hundreds column.

4. Add the thousands column: 2 + 5 = 7. Write the 7 in the thousands column.

5. Add the ten thousands column: 3 + 1 = 4. Write the 4 in the ten thousands column.
